Word & Deed Network

We desire to see every Christian congregation to be engaged actively in holistic ministry - leading people to faith in Christ, restoring community, and working for social transformation. Furthermore, we desire to see churches connected with each other to do holistic ministry better. The work for the community transformation is too big for solo churches to try to do it all. They need partners, and Word & Deed Network is committed to "connecting churches to make a difference.

"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17

An Advent Resource from Mustard Seed Associates
This year, they have released Waiting for the Light: An Advent Devotional, an excellent companion for those who long for an alternative to the out-of-control commercial enterprise that Christmas has become. If we are going to spend money during the holidays, let compassion drive us. Regarding compassion, Food for the Hungry’s gift catalog is filled with great ideas that make our giving count.

Lausanne III Anniversary
Last year around this time, I was in Cape Town, South Africa, for the third Congress on World Evangelization. Since then, regional meetings have convened, statements have been released, and assessments of the Lausanne movement as a whole have been given. Executive Chairman Doug Birdsall reflects on the past year and invites those who were in attendance to share any newsworthy developments since Lausanne III. As for me, I continue to find myself “ambiguously hopeful” about the movement—if that makes any sense! C. Rene Padilla, one of the catalysts for holistic mission at the first Congress in 1974, reflects well both my affirmations and critiques of the movement. Padilla’s classic Mission in Between the Times, which I reviewed in the 2011 issue of Witness, was updated and made available at the third Congress.
