Church + Holistic Gospel = Hope

When I look at the church, what gives me hope?

I am most hopeful in those circumstances that continue to reveal that there is the potential for the church to be a powerful witness to a holistic gospel, even though there are many who have become disillusioned with political forms of engagement in the last decade.  A hunger remains for a holistic expression of the gospel, and that tells me that there are Christians across the generations who are willing to grow in the way that they understand and practice a living faith that can impact the culture.

Candidly, I haven’t experienced a lot of hope for the church lately. I’m in a season where it would seem that even progressive mainline traditions are stifling the work of God with bureaucracy, allegiance to hierarchy, and trying to resuscitate things that maybe just need to die before they can be truly resurrected.

I think young people are asking great questions of the church, and those questions are pushing the church to think critically about what we believe and how we worship,
